Helping Expats Relocate
Welcome to Parents on the Move! It is my hope that your family-however you define your family- is beginning to capture a little of the joy of Christmas. There is a lot of "stress of Christmas" going about but this website is all about getting our focus on our faith, family and friends.
The concept of Advent is fairly new to me, having been raised a Baptist. My family thought that concept was for another denomination, but we are all learning! I am learning that if I do not have my focus on waiting for God's understanding of His son and His aim on earth, then my focus gets a little rattled in the Shopping Season.
Advent means waiting. What are you waiting for? A son to come home? A baby, when all your friends are expecting? A husband to come to faith? A sister to call you? In these crazy times, families have their challenges that are beyond our understanding or capability to fix.
So, from my becoming-functional family to yours, may you above all protect your quiet time. I will end with a prayer from a denomination that has been at this Advent stuff a lot longer than mine:
"Almighty God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify they holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen
