Helping Expats Relocate
To me, September will always be the start of the New Year. OK, it's the New Academic Year but if the financial year can start in April, I can cerrtainly label my new year. While I am not posting resolutions, this month's Relocation Note has a gentle challenge that will set you up for the rest of your travelling, living in another country year! Call it a goal for the month.
You may recall from my August Relocation Note, that I love the C-Me color/colour profiling and it has been a great help in understanding just why I canot stand forms and the minute details of life. I am a bold Red who loves to plow through with visions and great dreams that do come true. So, with this said, my challenge is to take time at this time of the year to make a Google Document of personal details. Let's get this stuff over with and have a great stress-free year!
If I can do it- you can!
I've just completed my document file and sent copies to my husband, my adult kids and my sister living in America.
What did it include? The following:
Flight details for September.
My Travel Insurance Refrence Numbers
My Passport Numbers
My USA and UK Driver's license numbers
So, it's not much but it is surprising how long I've gone without updating these details and making sure my nearest and dearest have them! One of the most experienced missionaries I know just went through immigration last week on a "Wing and a Prayer"......lots of prayers. It was the day before their flight and she noticed one of her children had an out of date passport. OK, she's one of those Level Four Families (do read Parent's on the Move! to understand these levels) who have at least two passports for each child. Still, we prayed for an undestanding immigration officer, and we were blessed. SO blessed.
So, at the beginning of this school year let's line up our documents and family documents and check dates and be "good to go!"
Have you ever had a "Wing and a Prayer" moment due to an out of date documents or are you a C-Me Blue and just love keeping up with details? I'm looking at my American driver's license and thinking about planning a Florida trip for my birthday....please do share this post with all your non-Blue friends.
